JAAN OAD

Jaan Oad (1898-1984) was internationally recognised naive painter who refuged from Estonia to Canada in 1944. In Toronto, the artist created hundreds of paintings to record history and the lost life style of his native Kihnu Island. Together with other Estonian naive painters Paul Kondas and Georg Vidrik, Jaan Oad was included into World Encyclopedia of Naive Art, London 1987.

Kihnu meremees ning maalikunstnik Jaan Oad (1898 – 1984) kutsus 1981. aastal Torontosse külla Mark Soosaare ja avas temale oma loomingu saladusi. Kunstniku maalidelt vaatab vastu Kihnu elu eelmise sajandi alguses. Koos Paul Kondase ja Georg Vidriikuga esindab Jaan Oad Eestit suurteoses World Encyclopedia of Naive Art, London 1987.
