ÅLAND'S
SPRING IN ESTONIA
An Exhibition
of Art Work from Åland Archipelago
April
16 - May 28, 2014
The first Åland´s
art show in Estonia has a focus on
contemporary art created on the large
archipelago in the middle of the Baltic Sea.
Kjell Ekström, Anna Sundblom, Margit
Holmberg, Minna Öberg, Amanda Chanfreau,
Carina Karlsson, Matilda Saul and Per-Ove
Högnäs exhibit paintings, water
colors, installations, photos, poetry,
textiles, documentary films which reflect
beauty of nature and people of Åland.
Besides of contemporary art, several
historical impressionist paintings by
artists from the Victor Westerholm´s art
community in Önningeby as well as a
selection of traditional wedding carpets
(ruges) are presented in the show.
The exhibition was opened in the
Museum of New Art on 16 April and will
last through the end of May. The fantastic
birdhouses created by children from Åland
together with local artists,
however, will tempt Estonian birds to nest
in them on lime trees near the museum. The
first birdhouse named as The 4 Star Hotel
was inhabited by a couple of sparrows, the
second was an old radio and its inhabitants
were great tits.
Hereby, welcome to
enjoy birdlife in the art houses on trees of
the Nikolai Street in Pärnu:
